Naomi Dawson

Dip. Gestalt Counselling, MBACP
Naomi Dawson - Therapist & Counsellor

“It is when we start working together that the real healing takes place.” David Hume

I have a Gestalt training which means I believe that everyone has the potential to find their own answers to their problems. Painful and difficult life events can block our self belief which can obscure our ability to find solutions or sometimes we just feel ‘stuck’. I will work alongside you, helping you to raise your self awareness and to see your situation more clearly. As Fritz Perls said “Awareness in itself is healing” as through heightened self awareness we find that we have the choice to try something new.

I see our work as a collaboration together. I offer a confidential space, without judgement, where I will use my intuition and creativity to gently challenge and support you.

I have experience working with anxiety; depression; self-esteem; bereavement; relationship and work difficulties; life stages; fertility; pregnancy; parenting; perimenopause, menopause and andropause; intrusive thoughts; self-harm; suicide ideation; abuse; trauma; identity; sexuality and gender. I also have experience of working with creatives, particularly actors and the challenges which are faced in a creative process and an unpredictable work industry. Although I encourage regular sessions with an agreed length of time, if you are working in the creative industries then I can offer a degree of flexibility.

I welcome people from all cultures and backgrounds and from the LGBTQ+ community. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Therapy and uphold their ethical standards.

I offer short and long term work, in person and online and a free 15 minute zoom session to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Carl Rogers
