About Me
I’m Alex (she/her). I am a qualified integrative counsellor, practicing in East London (Walthamstow) and online.
You might be looking for a therapist because you feel overwhelmed, or distressed. You might want some space to think through some of your past experiences, and how they’re affecting you today. Or, something big might have happened recently – such as a big life change, transition, or loss, in some area of your life. Maybe something just doesn’t feel quite ‘right’, but you can’t put your finger on what.
I work to create a safe, supportive, empathic environment, where you can take time to explore whatever is going on for you.
Therapy is quite different to other relationships, such as with family, friends, partners or colleagues. I’m there to create a space that’s truly yours – to unpack how you’re feeling, and what matters to you. I’ll always let you take the lead.
Being an ‘integrative’ therapist means I use a blend of different approaches. People are unique, so I try and avoid assumptions, and tailor how I work and the pace of our sessions, depending on what you need. I practice in a ‘relational’ way – so I pay particular attention to the relationship between us.
I can support with:
- Feeling sad, feeling low, and depression
- Anxiety
- Self-esteem
- Relationship issues
- Trauma
- Abuse
- Sexual identity
- Bereavement and loss
- Life transitions
- A search for meaning
- Illness, including chronic illness
- Loneliness and isolation
I hold in mind the social and political contexts of our lives, and the material conditions that shape them – including experiences of inequity and injustice. I invite you to bring this into therapy if it feels relevant and if you wish to do so. I create an LGBTQ+ affirmative space in my practice.
I trained at the Minster Centre and hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP and abide by their ethical codes. Before I became a therapist, my career was predominantly in the charity sector, where I have worked in services supporting people who had survived gender-based violence, and people experiencing homelessness.
