BSc, MSc, DClinPsy
Dr Elâ Örücü - Clinical Psychologist

Hello, my name is Elâ. I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over eight years’ experience of working in NHS services and with the third sector. I have worked with people with a range of difficulties including but not limited to:

  • Anxiety (OCD, panic, social anxiety), low mood and low self-esteem
  • Difficulties forming and maintaining satisfying relationships with self and others
  • (Complex) post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Unusual experiences and beliefs, including hearing voices or seeing or sensing things other people may not
  • Work related stress and burn out
  • Vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue
  • Addiction to drugs and alcohol

I have trained in several therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy approaches, compassion focused therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and schema therapy. I can offer short-term and longer-term therapy and will work collaboratively with you to develop a shared understanding of any difficulties and plan for our work together based on your values and goals.

I value authenticity, compassion and curiosity in my work. My aim is to be present with you and offer a space in which you feel able to speak about what is most important to you. I work to support you to make lasting changes which enable you to live a meaningful and valued life, whatever that may look like for you.

Alongside working in private practice, I work as a lead psychologist in a service supporting people who are experiencing homelessness. I believe that it is essential that therapy recognises our sociopolitical context, supports us to understand our lives within the social systems we exist within and acknowledges the role of social inequalities and discrimination in causing and maintaining distress.
