Stuart Tait - Therapist & Counsellor

Hi I’m Stuart. I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer a short telephone or zoom session for free to see if I am the right counsellor for you and I welcome people from all cultures and backgrounds, as well as the LGBTQ+ community. I have been told I have a warm, calming presence.

People seek counselling for a variety of reasons, from painful events such as bereavement to anxiety, depression, or a general sense of feeling ‘different’ or ‘stuck’. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings about these experiences. We can work together to help you find your own solutions to difficulties you face.

My Background

I started my counselling training in 2016 and I volunteered for one year as a ‘befriender’ with Maytree, a suicide respite charity, before counselling clients for two years with Haringey Bereavement Service. I am currently a counsellor on placement in a secondary school for Place2Be.

In addition to counselling, I work for the children's charity Coram Voice as an independent visitor coordinator, matching looked after children with adult volunteers. Before that I supported learning disabled and neurodivergent students in further education for ten years. I was also a practising collaborative artist for 22 years.

Specialist areas

Bereavement, suicidal ideation, drug & alcohol misuse (including familiarity with 12-step programs), neurodiversity, adolescents, & learning disability.

Rates

£60 per 50 minute session.

I work from East London Therapy on Thursday evenings (5 pm – 8 pm)
