I am a HCPC accredited Counselling Psychologist with experience of supporting adults (18+), who have faced a range of difficulties. These include, navigating identity, depression, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, shame and low self-esteem.
My roles in the NHS have also strengthened my skills and passion in providing affirmative care, to queer and/or gender expansive folks. I have also gained specialist knowledge in supporting individuals diagnosed with HIV, or those experiencing difficulties related to relationships, sex and intimacy.
I believe it is important for individuals to feel respected, comfortable and safe throughout the process of seeking support. I aim to work collaboratively with clients to create a thoughtful, caring and non-judgemental space, which they can use to express their difficulties and share their stories, at their own pace.
I work integratively, flexibly and creatively in order to tailor therapy to meet clients’ needs. I am familiar with models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Systemic Therapy approaches. Within therapy, I also aim to attend to issues of power and social justice, as I believe this can be important for understanding experiences of distress, and can subsequently help with building a sense of empowerment.
